ZIHUA I.D. provides highly personalized construction & property management, interior decorating and consulting services for foreign clients seeking a base in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. Founder Maura Taylor is a New York native with a strong background in project management, home building, interior decorating & design and real estate development.
In 2005, Maura came to Zihuatanejo on vacation and fell in love with the place and its people. Soon after returning home from 10 wonderful days in a tropical paradise, she was determined to find a way to make Zihuatanejo her permanent home. A few weeks later she had closed her business connections in NY and was on her way to start a new adventure and life on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
Through local connections, Maura was introduced to the owner of “Spyglass”, a 10 bedroom luxury estate in La Barrita, Mexico and thus began her first major home construction project. Spyglass was undergoing a major remodel and Maura was brought in to both oversee day-to-day construction as well as assist with the interior decorating. Maura traveled throughout Mexico in search of custom furniture, ironwork, lighting. artwork and one-of-a-kind décor. From Mexico City and Guadalajara to Oaxaca, Maura worked with Mexican artisans to design and construct a unique look for this large, eclectic home. The long months of building relationships with exceptional craftsmen would form the building blocks of ZIHUA I.D.
Once word was out of a bilingual American with experience in home building and decorating, who could understand the needs of foreign clients and translate them to local architects and builders, Maura landed her first solo project in 2006: for Randy and Dana Baldwin, owners of Villas Xiguacan, a new 18-condo development perched on a hillside above La Madera Beach in Zihuatanejo.
The condos were being sold unfinished and the developers sought a liaison for their buyers, someone who could assist each buyer through the entire project lifecycle, from selecting the right architect to delivery of a finished product. Maura was contracted by several Xiguacan buyers and worked alongside architects such as Enrique Muller, Luis Trevino and Andres Saavedra to deliver her clients’ new dream homes in Zihuatanejo.
Working with local architects and her own talented team, Maura has gained valuable experience in managing construction projects in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. As an American, she understands the needs of her clients, and through her proficient project management and communication skills, allows them to effectively manage their home construction, decorating and remodeling…even from thousands of miles away.
Maura continues to oversee a variety of building projects in Mexico, both residential and commercial. She also provides consulting services such as international relocation assistance (shipping and transport, foreign car permits and legalizations, resident visas..), property management, business management and translation services.
Maura created ZIHUA I.D. with the belief that living the dream in paradise can be attained, especially in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.
